Hearing Sarah Palin talk about the troopergate report, I am left wondering if she even knows what the word ethics means. Either she is a very good liar, indicating that she is pathological at it, or she just has no meaning of the word, indicating she is down right stupid. Well it looks like she now has more time to learn about ethics and/or practice her lying even more. Alaska's state personnel board has just expanded their probe into Palin to include numerous other ethics complaints.
Troopergate
OOPS! Todd Palin Looks Guilty
And the cookie starts to crumble:
Todd Palin talked with over a dozen state officials, many of them repeatedly, in his crusade to get a state trooper fired whom he considered to be a bad cop, a dishonest person and a threat to the Palin family, according to his sworn statement given Wednesday to a legislative investigator.
The 25-page statement from Gov. Sarah Palin's husband, in response to questions submitted by the investigator, shows that Todd Palin's efforts started before his wife became governor and accelerated during the first 19 months of her administration.
Todd Palin was waging the campaign against his ex-brother-in-law, State Trooper Mike Wooten, who had divorced the governor's sister in 2006 and who is involved in an ongoing custody fight.
So what is Sarah hiding now? The public has a right to know if the person running for the second highest office has some deep seeded ethical problems going on.
Judge: Troopergate Probe Will Go On
In a defeat to Sarah Palin, a judge has thrown out a lawsuit filed by Alaskan Republican lawmakers trying to dismiss the troopergate investigation. We are only a couple weeks from the report being released, so things are going to get interesting now.
Even The WSJ Digs Up Troopergate Dirt
Pretty bad when a Murdoch company is now going after the right's golden child:
An informal adviser who has counseled Gov. Sarah Palin on ethics issues urged her in July to apologize for her handling of the dismissal of the state's public safety commissioner and warned that the matter could snowball into a bigger scandal.
He also said, in a letter reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, that she should fire any aides who had raised concerns with the chief over a state trooper who was involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister.
Again - did McCain vet her, or do they really thing the highest offices in this land are nothing but a joke?
October Surprise!
Hollis French, the Alaskan Senator heading the investigation into troopergate is going to announce today that they are fast tracking the investigation and hope to release the findings three weeks earlier then the previous date of October 31.
One Reason Troopergate Matters
When the Republicans pushed through the impeachment of Bill Clinton, they defended their actions with claims that he had "betrayed the trust in the American people". In all honesty, it was their strongest argument.
Now there is an investigation into an alleged vindictive abuse of powers by Palin. If this story proves to be true, she put her family above the people of Alaska and that is something very serious. This would mean she would be entering office with a betrayal of trust the American people may not fully understand, simply because that betrayal happend so far away and outside of the MSM's radar.
This goes back to the lack of accountability the Republican party has been plagued with for the last decade. Palin should be held accountable for any wrong actions, but then how does a small state legislature hold the vice-President accountable? That is the risk of having someone on the ticket under active investigation.
Understanding Troopergate
Josh has put together a really nice synopsis of the history involving troopergate.
Throw Vetting Out The Window
Did McCain vet Palin? It's becoming more obvious that they didn't:
A very reliable source overheard Republican spokesperson McHugh Pierre state TODAY that he had spoken to the McCain Campaign. They are coming to Alaska tomorrow to check out the "Troopergate" investigation.
In other words, THEY DID NOT DO SO PROPERLY AHEAD OF TIME.
In other words - McCain picked her because she is a woman. Will the media challenge sexist McCain on this?
