About All The New, Clean Coal

While Donald Trump was making promises, the rest of the country was ignoring him.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before. “We’re bringing back coal! Beautiful, clean coal!”.  If you haven’t, then you must be living under a rock (or in a coal mine.)

But that promise Donald Trump echoed for the past 2 years seems to have been lost somewhere between fantasy land and here in reality.

In a new federal report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration it is projected that U.S. coal consumption for 2018 is the lowest level since 1979. That’s a 40 year low for something Trump swore up and down was coming back.

And it doesn’t stop there. This year will mark the second-biggest year on record for the shuttering of coal-powered electrical plants.

So while Trump and his base want to live in yesteryear, the country has luckily moved on and decided that there is no clean coal and even if there was, we really don’t need it. And for that Mother Nature sighs a little relief.
