There is no doubt that the Tea Party has become hell bent on destroying America. Proof of that can be seen in this video from Wisconsin, where members of the Tea Party Express cheered the downgrade of the United States credit rating:

Yes, let’s cheer on something that can cost our nation an additional $100 billion a year, destroy the stock markets and people’s retirements and send the world economy into a death spiral. Are these people really this stupid? Why yes they are.

Here’s a perfect example of the stupidity that plagues the Tea Party. In the recent debt ceiling debate there were fears that things like the military and social security might not be paid. Tea Party members in Congress drafted legislation to force the President to pay these items in case of default. The only problem is that the cost of these items are greater than the income of our nation, so we must borrow just to pay them each month. A case of very simple math and the Tea Party once again let failed ideology trump simple fact.

Yes we do need to cut spending in this nation. There are plenty of places that can be done, but a lot of our lawmakers refuse. Take the military. We spend more on defense every year than every other single nation in the world combined. We also waste money like it’s going out of style. Take the F35 fighter jet program. President Obama wants the program cut, as well as President Bush, who wanted the program done away with. None of that mattered to Congress though. Instead they buck the commander in chiefs (one from each party) and keep this $300 billion anchor alive. Even “no earmarks” John Boehner pushed to keep it alive so that his district could see extra money. That’s rather funny considering the Tea Party was just holding a rally outside of his office in support of him.

How about another cut? The Medicare Drug Program is an anchor on entitlements. Our nation is not allowed to negotiate for lower prices and the pharmaceutical companies know they have us by the short hairs on this. During the health care debate, redoing this plan, which was the brain child of the GOP, was brought up. The right immediately fought back and the issue quickly got dropped. That’s not shocking when you have people like Eric Cantor receiving big bucks from the pharmaceutical industry.

Yet these are the people the Tea Party cheers. These are their heroes. Instead of looking at actions, the Tea Party just listens to words. They don’t bother doing their homework and realizing the very people they support are some of the biggest contributors to our current financial disaster. Even worse is the fact that the media continues to give them so much attention and doesn’t even bother challenging them on their false assertions.

America is now entering another very dark period in economic times and we still have the children help run the country. Right now our only way out is to let the grown-ups hash it out. Sadly that won’t happen, so that light at the end of the tunnel has now been extinguished.
