Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of orchestrating the conflict in Georgia to benefit one of its presidential election candidates.
In an exclusive interview with CNN's Matthew Chance in the Black Sea city of Sochi Thursday, Putin said the U.S. had encouraged Georgia to attack the autonomous region of South Ossetia.
In a perfect world we would write this off as the ramblings of a mad man. Sadly this isn't a perfect war and we have an administration who wouldn't think twice about doing something like this. Hopefully it will send enough of a message to Congress so that they start asking some questions. If there is any merit to these allegations at all, then the U.N. needs to start investigating also.

Putin lies
It wouldn't help McCain, in a way that I can think of -
It might help Obama, as problems with Georgia's oil pipeline will drive up oil futures. - and it did drive them up $5 to $10 / barrel while there was active fighting.
Now that the active fighting has pretty much supposed to be quieted down, oil futures have dropped even more than pre-conflict levels to $105 / $107 / barrel, today (Sept 2).
Somebody correct me if they think that I'm wrong, but, when Obama gets elected, the Democrat party would prefer that the economy and oil prices, etc were temporarily high and that. as the artificially inflated prices drop, they can take credit for the "drop" when he's that prez.
It all makes sense.... no energy plan........ a 5 week Democrat summer vacation.......no offshore USA oil drilling......... The Dems (note: I'm not saying "liberals") are working hard to make oil futures high and the economy look bad when the "O" man takes office
Unfortunately., President Bush kinda peed on their parade and "unsigned" the Presidential Degree that banned offshore drilling and the price of oil futures dropped from $145ish to about $125ish in 2-3 weeks.
For a guy that a lot of liberals call "dumb", he made the correct decision in the chess game of politics.
Then he asked the Democrat led Congress to do their part and lift their Congressionally passed ban to take off the anxiety from the whimsical "futures" market.
Their poorly chosen response was to go on vacation for 4-5 weeks - while all the while you and I are paying for it -
When I say "Look around, Read, Think for yourself", thers' a good reason for it.
