You can't select who ends up sitting on a board with you, but you sure as hell can select who works on your campaign. So perhaps John McCain needs to explain this to the American people:
William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.
The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein's government.
During the same period beginning in 1992, Timmons worked closely with the two lobbyists, Samir Vincent and Tongsun Park, on a previously unreported prospective deal with the Iraqis in which they hoped to be awarded a contract to purchase and resell Iraqi oil. Timmons, Vincent, and Park stood to share at least $45 million if the business deal went through.
Of course whenever McCain is asked about the lobbyists on his campaign he ends up lying to the American people. So who is the real John McCain? Do we really want someone who employs allies of Saddam Hussein to run this country?

WHY has this bombshell gone completely uncovered in USA mainstream print & broadcast media...yet it's been picked up all over Europe MSM?
US MSM has given hours of TV time and yards of print to McCain's bold attack on Obama's already vetted flimsty connection to a reformed Ayers...yet here is McCain's transition guy with a 5-year lobbyists' haul from the murderous Iraqi dictator and a shady-looking oil deal to boot.....and not a peep? No CNN truth-seeking Campbell Brown or keeping-them-honest Anderson Cooper (both who did big exposees on the Obama-Ayers non connection), no MSNBC what-have-we-learned today Morning Joe, no CBS-ABC-NBC TV news...not a single major market daily. Is this because they only run what the campaign flacks give them to run? Every time McCain-Palin chose to throw a piece of nonsense as an accusation at Obama....out comes the headlines: "McCain lashes out at Obama terrorist connection...Palin accuses Obama of palling around with terrorists."
If it weren't for the political blogs, this very legitimate question about yet another McCain senior campaign executive's murky lobbyist ties.....questionning not just Timmons disqualifying background, but more cirtically, McCain's judgment in who he surrounds himself with....would pass absolutely unnoticed.
Where are the mainstream media on this one? Afraid if they run it, they'll get a public spanking from Steve Schmidt, just like the NY Times did when they ran the truth about McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, and his 8 year lobbying connection to Freddie and Fannie? What a disappointment and disservice to voters.
