Bob Novak just said on Fox News that Condoleeza Rice might well be John McCain's running mate.
Is that to provide a hedge against both Obama and Hillary? Or another pundit's attempt to reduce the presidential contest to race and gender?
Now speaking of racism, this really stinks of it, along with sexism. So McCain would only pick Condi because she is a black woman and not because she is qualified? I hope this is another Novak wet dream, as I do have a little respect for John McCain and would hate to think he would insult women, blacks and the office of the vice-President by such a poorly calculated political move.

As far as being the best qualified - I have to disagree with that. Cite some examples of what she has done that's so great. I will say she knows her stuff when it comes to the Soviet Union, but that's history. What are her qualifications for handling the problems we face today with the Middle East? That's also only one small part of what the VP needs to worry about. What about the economy, health care and all other domestic issues?
How could you say that Condi is not qualified? She personifies the qualifications a president or vice president should have. Who is it running currently that is better equipped? She was a Professor of political science at Stanford University; she served as the Soviet AND East European Affairs Advisor. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1970. In 1974, at age 19! ! ! Rice earned her B.A. in political science, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Denver. In 1975...SHE WAS ONLY 20!!!...she obtained her MASTERS DEGREE IN POLITICAL SCIENCE from the University of Notre Dame. She first worked in the State Department in 1977...AT ONLY 22! ! !...during the Carter administration, as an intern in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. In 1981, AT THE AGE OF 26! ! !...she received her PH.D IN POLITICAL SCIENCE from the Graduate School of International Studies at Denver. Her dissertation centered on military policy and politics in Czechoslovakia. She went on to become a presidential advisor and then the secretary of state! ! ! As far as being the best qualified, good lord how could you be more qualified?????? Please explain to me now how being the wife of a former president throws even a shadow on what Condi has accomplished. Additionally, who in the hell do you think is supplying our middle eastern enemies? The Russians!
Any person who can sit in front of Congress and lie and twist the facts (what is often referred to as political "spin") regarding the situation in Iraq is not qualified for anything, except to work in the Bush Administration, where ideology comes first, truth second.
I'd say the Soviet Union is NOT history. It lurks, it unfortunately breathes, It never went away. What "IT" was for a while, was low on cash. America fixed all that for them by purchasing astonishing amounts of oil from them. They're back! I'd take Condi over many other offerings. Think!
I second the motion to that and she's capable of helping people any way she can! I remembered it clearly that when my friend hosted some home staging classes in DC way back I can't remember exactrly when, she happened to be there and she gave out some words of wisdom to the participants! If she runs for President, she will surely win!

McCain could use Rice, she would take all the wind out of the Clinton sales. Since she took over, the war is going better and she has been the greatest professional on the bush team. I think before we start bashing Bush you may want to look back at the statements made regarding his ability to grow the economy over the past 7 years. Also, if you consider what Pres. Clinton did with his management of the economy you may see a different story. If Mrs. Clinton could not figure out what Pres. Clinton was doing in the White house what makes her being the Wife of the president worth anything.
A McCain Rice ticket could do a lot for the Republican Party. Her REAL experience and knowledge and professionalism makes all the difference. She is the real thing and would make McCain the strongest President ever..
Yeah, that's great. How has Condi done so far? She has been a complete failure from day 1. Scholastic credentials are one thing, being able to function outside of a classroom is another.

When Rice was appointed Secretary of State, I hoped she was being groomed for the Presidency. She would have had my wholehearted support. Smart, Articulate, Courageous (she has certainly differed from her collegues and fought for her viewpoint), Loyal (pursued the consensus objectives as part of the team). Since the low approval ratings of the Adminsitration pretty well kept her out of any consideration, I would gladly have her on the McCain ticket. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY MY FIRST CHOICE! African-American or woman has nothing to do with my preference. SHE IS THE TOP QUALITY CANDIDATE! If we are in a post-racial and post-sexist society (as is obvious by the choices and widespread support on the Democartic side), then race and sex are irrelevant. So why do Condi's detractors keep bringing it up? Because a McCalin / Rice ticket is the combination that the Democarts fear the most!

She's the logical person to be his running mate. She's very intelligent and is well-prepared to assume that position. But, now that we have this Democratic situation where it will be either a woman or a black man (actually, half black) running -- now is the time to bring Condi into the mix -- an intelligent, experienced black woman as vice President -- great idea. I hope he goes for it. If McCain should get in somehow and has some health problems later, I would much rather have Condi at the top job instead of either Clinton or Obama.
That would benefit the Democrats greatly. McCain needs to pick Newt G. or some other very strong conservative. Have you ever heard any type of philosophy from her? Her positions, without the push from Bush? If the Republicans want to keep the White House for the next 4 years and more, McCain had better pick a TRUE Republican in the aura of Reagan. Otherwise, we'll have a set of losers back ( clintons) or the all rhetoric candidate of dummies. We trully need help and McCain had better do the right thing.
