Last night Bill Maher gave one of his best new rules ever, and this is coming from a guy who has scene every single episode of Real Time. Talking about the White House’s constant caving and reaching out to people like the teabaggers, Maher has apparently reached the tipping point and tells Obama to start standing up for those who elected him and those who aren’t crazy.

Bill Maher has made news the past few days for going after President Obama for not being tough enough. Here he is last night talking to Keith about it:
Bill is right. President Obama needs to stop being “nice”. The Republicans have shown they have no desire to work with him or the Democrats, so we need to just forget about them. Instead Obama should start pushing through exactly what he wants. For Republicans the honeymoon was over at 12:01 on January 20, 2009. No need for our side to try and extend it.

Bill had some great new rules this week, but his final one on AIG and the growing greed of Americans pretty much sums it all up.

Bill Maher had a great “New Rule” at the end of his show this past Friday. He took on the Republican argument that your healthcare decisions should be between you and your doctor. Of course it never happens that way. Your healthcare decisions are made by the insurance company.

Damn I hate when Real Time’s season ends. Here is the new rules from last night. Bill’s last new rule was golden.

Last night on Real Time, Terry McAuliffe refused to answer Bill's question of Bill Clinton's foreign policy experience when he took office. Instead he resorted to a right wing talking point; "it's a changed world since 9/11".
The real interesting part is at the end when Bill made a joke about Bill Clinton. Suddenly Terry's satellite feed is gone. Things that stop and make you say hmmmmm.

Real Time wasn't the same without New Rules. Last night Bill gave us another great dose of them. His final one is awesome.

The man who created such key phrases as "the death tax" for the GOP seems to be liking the idea of a President Obama. Here is an interview Bill Maher did with him last night:

Think Progress has posted video of Tony Snow on Real Time blowing off the failures we had in Iraq.
MAHER: In fact, the smarter people in his administration said to do just that. “We need more boots on the ground. We need more security.†But because he’s stubborn and stupid, he said, “No, let’s do it Rumsfeld’s way. Let’s do it the light way.†So it took him five years to come around to what should have been done five years ago. And — and while he was learning on the job, people paid for that in blood. […]
SNOW: Well, wait a minute. Look, I don’t know where to start, but I’ll start at the beginning. Number one, when it comes to the war, everybody — it’s great to be a backseat general, and everybody gets it wrong at the beginning of a war. But there were plenty of — no, it’s true.
The problem is that it wasn't the military that got it wrong - it was the civilians, like Rumsfeld. The generals who said what was needed were fired (see Shinseki).

This was an interesting exchange on Bill Maher last night:
So because companies like Diebold create very unsecure machines that means the voter must be put through the ringer and provide ID - that according to Tony Snow.
Here's something that isn't talked about enough on Voter ID - a poll tax. Most states require a fee for a state issued ID or drivers license. Since this is required to vote that means we have to pay to vote. Also considering the new requirements they are putting in requiring citizens to have these IDs no matter what then it can also be considered a tax. Looks like the Republicans are the party of increasing your taxes - in the form of required government bullshit.

This is getting old. Ann Coulter is out on our public airwaves using a defense any 5 year old would use (and she is suppose to be a lawyer?). That defense is simple - "Well Bill Maher did it". Wow Ann - if Bill Maher jumped off a bridge, would you?
So let's look at Anne's defense. What she is under fire for is the following statement:
"I've learned my lesson. If I'm gonna say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot." (emphasis added)
Now she is saying that Bill Maher said the same thing about Dick Cheney. During episode 503 of Real Time with Bill Maher, the round table turned to the hot topic of the week of a suicide bombing in Afghanistan, in which Dick Cheney was the target. Bill was discussing with his panel the decision of the Huffington Post to close the comments on the news thread about the attempt, because people were commenting that they were upset Cheney survived. I dug through my archives and here is the video of the segment:

What are you doing reading this blog? You should have your computer off and conserve energy.
Actually Earth Day is a hoax. We should dedicate more than a day to our planet. That means everyday should be Earth Day.
I will be gone most of the day enjoying in a nice bike trek through a state park. If you aren't out enjoying Earth Day, then perhaps take some time to read Bill Maher's excellent piece on Huffington Post entitle "The Birds, The Bees, and Earth Day". After reading that then go out and see how many bees you see. I have definatley noticed a major decline in the number I see out here in the country.
