Tony Snow

RIP - Tony Snow

Sat Jul 12, 2008 at 08:19 am

Tony Snow died from colon cancer last night. Even though I didn't agree with him much, there was still something about him I always liked. Perhaps it was in part to him being a hometown boy from Cincinnati. Please keep his wife and three children in your thoughts and prayers.

From Bush's Podium To Bush's Mouth Piece

Fri Feb 22, 2008 at 11:30 am

Tony Snow joins O'Reilly's Radio Factor as a permanent fill-in host. Does this mean Snow shared the same lynching views as O'Reilly? It wouldn't be shocking if he did.

Blowing Off Failure

Sun Jan 13, 2008 at 04:23 pm

Think Progress has posted video of Tony Snow on Real Time blowing off the failures we had in Iraq.

MAHER: In fact, the smarter people in his administration said to do just that. “We need more boots on the ground. We need more security.” But because he’s stubborn and stupid, he said, “No, let’s do it Rumsfeld’s way. Let’s do it the light way.” So it took him five years to come around to what should have been done five years ago. And — and while he was learning on the job, people paid for that in blood. […]

SNOW: Well, wait a minute. Look, I don’t know where to start, but I’ll start at the beginning. Number one, when it comes to the war, everybody — it’s great to be a backseat general, and everybody gets it wrong at the beginning of a war. But there were plenty of — no, it’s true.

The problem is that it wasn't the military that got it wrong - it was the civilians, like Rumsfeld. The generals who said what was needed were fired (see Shinseki).

Bad Voting Machines = Need For Voter ID

Sat Jan 12, 2008 at 12:48 pm

This was an interesting exchange on Bill Maher last night:

So because companies like Diebold create very unsecure machines that means the voter must be put through the ringer and provide ID - that according to Tony Snow.

Here's something that isn't talked about enough on Voter ID - a poll tax. Most states require a fee for a state issued ID or drivers license. Since this is required to vote that means we have to pay to vote. Also considering the new requirements they are putting in requiring citizens to have these IDs no matter what then it can also be considered a tax. Looks like the Republicans are the party of increasing your taxes - in the form of required government bullshit.

OOPS - Something Else Popped Up On YouTube!

Thu Mar 22, 2007 at 02:15 pm

Kos found this gem

Yup - that is wingnut darling supporting Salt Lake City mayor Rocky Anderson. This is the same Rocky Anderson who called Bush a war criminal this week and said he should be impeached. Kos has a bunch of Rocky's diaries highlighted.

Hear that? It is the meltdown of the wingnut bloggers. Just when they thought it was so neat about the Hillary 1984 ad on YouTube. The maker of that ad has summed it up perfectly:

I made the "Vote Different" ad because I wanted to express my feelings about the Democratic primary, and because I wanted to show that an individual citizen can affect the process. There are thousands of other people who could have made this ad, and I guarantee that more ads like it--by people of all political persuasions--will follow.

The only thing I would like to add to that is the difference the media age is making on politics. It was easy to sit there and deny saying something in past elections, but now thanks to the power of the internet, we have archives to go through and demystify any shades a candidate might try to cast over a previous part of their lives. Some are taking awhile to learn this. Tony Snow got caught with it yesterday when asked about his sudden support for executive privilege when 10 years ago he was so against it.

The Spin is In

Tue Feb 20, 2007 at 03:56 pm

From the White House that is. They are spinning as hard as they can on the Walter Reed fiasco. Tony Snow showed this spin during the first part of today's presser:

The problem is that this spin isn't going to work. Basically Snow is saying they don't want to talk about it. They are trying to direct everything to the Army. HEY DIP SHIT - Who is the Commander in Chief? This is Bush's army. I thought "he was the decider"?

This is an absolute outrage. The White House giving this typical line of bullshit that they don't want to talk about our injured troops being treated like shit by our military. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi should call everyone back from recess today and say "we are addressing this situation". People involved need fired and charged with whatever laws they broke. Bush needs impeached for his Cheney attitude of "go fuck yourself" he displays towards our injured troops.
