Palin Backs Obama Over McCain

Well at least she does on Pakistan:

Sarah Palin told a customer at a Philadelphia restaurant on Saturday that the United States should “absolutely” launch cross-border attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistan in the event that it becomes necessary to “stop the terrorists from coming any further in,” a comment similar to the one John McCain condemned Barack Obama for making during last night’s presidential debate.

See what happens when you let her off the leash John? She goes out and answers questions and in turn they contradict your position.

I seriously can not remember such a poorly run campaign in my life. I have seen student council campaigns have more organization and ability to stay on message than John McCain's. The GOP must be so proud.

Musharraf Out

Pevez Musharraf announced today that he is resigning as President of Pakistan, instead of facing an impeachment. What happens in Pakistan now will be interesting. Will the people actually work for something, rather than against someone? The Taliban is regaining a lot of strength in the tribal areas, so what happens in Pakistan over the coming weeks will be very important.

But When Obama Says It He Is Wrong

When Obama said he would go after al Qaeda in Pakistan, the right wingers went ape shit. They couldn't believe he would do such a thing to a sovereign nation. I mean we could have seen future articles like this:

U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan fired across the border into Pakistan in a strike targeting Taliban militants, and the Pakistani army said Thursday that civilians were killed.

The attack illustrates Washington's concern the Taliban and al-Qaida are using Pakistan's lawless frontier as a base for attacks in Afghanistan.

The problem is that article is from today. This action was taken by Bush's military. Will John McCain go after Bush the same way he attacked Obama? Obama just said he would do that, Bush actually did. That means all the wingnuts that attacked Obama need to focus on Bush now.

More From The "Democratic" Pakistan

Ahh yes - freedom:

Pakistan has become the latest country to block access to the video-sharing Web site YouTube on the grounds that one or more videos on the site offend Islam, authorities said Monday.

The Pakistani government is also asking YouTube to remove "objectionable content," said Nabiha Mehmood, a spokeswoman for the Pakistani Telecommunications Authority.

If YouTube removes the video or videos that concern Pakistan, she said, the government may once again let its people post and view video clips.

It is unclear what the video or videos in question depict.

Hey why don't we block every site on the internet that might offend someone? That would fix so many problems - like the internet becoming overloaded and the fears of running out of IP addresses.

I guess I should point out that at least it's only the internet. It's not as serious as blocking actual news shows, like some other countries like to do.

This Is Democracy?

The people in Pakistan elected a new leader, but Bush is trying to pressure the country into keeping Musharraf in power:

The Bush administration is pressing the opposition leaders who defeated Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to allow the former general to retain his position, a move that Western diplomats and U.S. officials say could trigger the very turmoil the United States seeks to avoid.

U.S. officials, from President Bush on down, said this week that they think Musharraf, a longtime U.S. ally, should continue to play a role, despite his party's rout in parliamentary elections Monday and his unpopularity in the volatile, nuclear-armed nation.

The U.S. is urging the Pakistani political leaders who won the elections to form a new government quickly and not press to reinstate the judges whom Musharraf ousted last year, Western diplomats and U.S. officials said Wednesday. If reinstated, the jurists likely would try to remove Musharraf from office.

Bush's policy of hanging on to Musharraf has caused friction between the White House and the State Department , with some career diplomats and other specialists arguing that the administration is trying to buck the political tides in Pakistan , U.S. officials said.

We saw this same move by Bush in Iraq a few years ago also. His idea of democracy is that he picks the leader. Is it any wonder why they hate us so much?

Astonishing. Also proof of how we will never end the world of terrorism, even though Bush says he will.

BREAKING: Benazir Bhutto Assassinated

Pakistan has just taken another turn for the worse:

Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was killed in a gun and bomb attack after a rally in the city of Rawalpindi on Thursday, her party said.

"She has been martyred," said party offical Rehman Malik.

MSNBC is reporting that the bomber went up to Bhutto and shot her twice before detonating the bomb.

We all know billions of dollars have gone missing in Iraq and Bush hasn't batted an eye about it. I suspect we will see the same lack of concern over the billions wasted in Iraq:

After the United States has spent more than $5 billion in a largely failed effort to bolster the Pakistani military effort against Al Qaeda and the Taliban, some American officials now acknowledge that there were too few controls over the money. The strategy to improve the Pakistani military, they said, needs to be completely revamped.

Billions go missing in his foreign policy blunders and that's ok, but spend money to help our children? That is uncalled for in the eyes of the Bush administration:

The Bush administration yesterday eliminated about $700 million a year in Medicaid reimbursements to schools, sidestepping an attempt by Congress to block such a move.

The new rule, issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is expected to save the federal government $3.6 billion over five years, transferring those costs to school districts.

See $5 billion is nothing, but $700 million is too much! That is Republican math right there.

Tis' the Season for Republican greed and lack of compassion!

Cheney's Surprise Visit

Cheney made a surprise visit to Pakistan to tell them to get tough on al Qaeda. What is interesting is exactly what he said to them:

Vice President Dick Cheney made an unannounced trip to Pakistan on Monday to deliver what officials in Washington described as an unusually tough message to Gen. Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan, warning him that the newly Democratic Congress could cut aid to his country unless his forces become far more aggressive in hunting down operatives with Al Qaeda.

(emphasis mine)

So you catch that? The Democrats are wanting to get tough on countries harboring terrorists. This is the same party that Cheney and Bush constantly mocks as being the "terrorist appeasers".

Which party was in control while al Qaeda made their big comeback in power? Oh yeah - the Republicans. Who was responsible for the 9/11 attacks? Oh yeah - al Qaeda.

I guess this means that the party who really wants to get those who caused 9/11 is the Democrats. Thanks Cheney! You just proved that the Republicans are truly the terrorist appeasers.
