Really? If Obama or any other Democrat was doing that Boehner would be leading the "America hating" rhetoric against them. This guy is a disgrace to Congress, and to my own district. More at the Huffington Post.

Seriously. This from a man who never once saw combat. He didn't come right out and say it, but this email response shows that he fully supports Rush's comments:
Dear Jamie :
Thank you for contacting me in regard to Rush Limbaugh's recent statements. It is good to hear from you.
Limbaugh's "phony soldiers" statement was spawned by a recent incident in which Jesse Macbeth, a civilian anti-war protester, made false claims of being an Army Ranger and veteran of the Iraq War. He joined Iraq Veterans Against the War in January, 2006, and even publicly represented the group at various events throughout the country. On September 21, 2007, he admitted in federal court that he had faked his war record. When Limbaugh responded to a caller about war protesters, it is evident that h e used the term "phony soldiers " while alluding to the recent situation regarding Jesse Macbeth.
Since this incident, Rep. John Hall and Rep. Mark Udall, both House D emocrats, have introduced resolutions condemning Rush Limbaugh's remarks. These resolutions have undoubtedly been drafted as a form of appeasement to an extreme liberal left, and I find it disheartening that they would take his comments out of context to play partisan politics when our country clearly has more important issues in need of attention. If at any time either of these resolutions reach the floor of the House of Representatives, I will welcome the opportunity to join with my colleagues in ensuring its defeat.
Rush Limbaugh's strong support of and charity for U.S. troops is well established and was even recognized by the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. Unlike radical left-wing groups and their followers, Limbaugh's goal is to boost troop morale, not depress it by stalling the resources troops need to complete their mission.
Thank you again for contacting me with your thoughts. Please don't hesitate to inform me of your concerns in the future.
Sincerely,
John A. Boehner
And Boehner accuses those against the war of not supporting our troops. Imagine that. This from the same man who called each dead soldier a "small price to pay". This man is beyond the pale. We really need to find someone to replace him next year. John Boehner doesn't even deserve a seat on city council in Redneck USA.

May you spend an eternity burning in hell. I say this because of the disgust I have for a person who can so easily diminish the sacrifices made by so many military families and soldiers for this war in Iraq. To consider the 3,700+ lives lost in Iraq as a "small price" is unconscionable. The comment you made yesterday will be burned in history and I will work hard to make sure everyone of your constituents hear it over and over again.
It isn't bad enough that you only server George Bush, ignoring any complaints or questions brought to your attention by the great people of Ohio's 8th district (of which I live in). No. You use your allegiance to a man to diminish the precious lives that have been sacrificed in the war waged by that man.
I am not a religious person, but I can only imagine that if there is truly a God he has just marked you for damnation.
That is what Boehner called GOP Senators who are against the "surge":
Rep. Heather Wilson (R-N.M.) called for comity Wednesday during a meeting of the Republican Conference after House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) referred to Senate colleagues who have begun to favor a change in course in Iraq as “wimps.â€
Wilson declined to comment directly on what Boehner had said during the closed-door meeting, but she noted that “Senator [Richard] Lugar’s (R-Ind.) speech was one of the more thoughtful speeches [she had heard] in the Senate in a long time.â€
So John Boehner feels the tone involving this war should be the same involving school yard taunts. That is really thoughtful. I feel our soldiers deserve a little more maturity from our leaders.
Why don't Boehner get on the House floor and cry some more? That can be considered very wimpy. Better yet - why don't the House Republican caucus hold an election to replace Boehner as their leader? They should show that our soldiers and citizens demand more respect.
Hey John - here is a real wimp. A congressman who refuses to talk to a bunch of senior citizens he represents when their Medicare is not working. John Boehner - you are the biggest wimp (and that is the nicest thing I can say about you).

Of today's news regarding the indictment of William Jefferson:
House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio said Jefferson should be expelled from Congress if he is found guilty and refuses to resign.
"The American people rightfully expect the highest ethical standards from their elected leaders," Boehner said.
Oh how 8 1/2 months changes things. What did John say last September about Bob Ney?
Yesterday on Fox News Sunday, House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) was asked whether Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) should step down from Congress. Ney pled guilty last week to federal corruption charges, admitting to prosecutors that “he had accepted tens of thousands of dollars in illegal favors from Abramoff and from a Syrian businessman nicknamed ‘the Fat Man.’â€
Apparently, in Boehner’s mind, this doesn’t necessarily disqualify you from serving in Congress. Boehner twice refused to answer whether Ney should step down, saying only that it was a decision Ney should make for himself.
Yup - it's ok for old white guys to stay in Congress when found guilty of accepting bribes, but don't let a black guy think about doing it.

Is it the troops? Nope. His true concern is that if Iraq don't get better by September, it might hurt the Republicans in 2008. That is what he told Chris Wallace on FOX yesterday. Crooks and Liars has the video.
Another really interesting thing he said in the interview was we won't know until then if the "surge" is working. This is the same man who stood before Congress in January and said we would know in 60-90 days if the "surge" is working. He talks about benchmarks, yet he just moved his own benchmark - moved it to a time they think is more convenient for their political future.
So there you got the Republican leader in the House saying they are more worried about their political lives than the actual lives of our soldiers. This message will echo through into 2008. Once we find someone to run against John (which we are actively working on here), I will make sure it echoes through on the campaign trail also.

Everyone has been blasting Pelosi for going to Syria, but there has been no critisism of Republicans doing the same. Today, Rep Darrell Issa (R-CA) is in Syria meeting with Damascus. Now Boehner is giving the Republican excuse of why Democrats can't go to Syria:
Boehner declined to criticize [fellow Republican Rep. David Hobson] for joining Pelosi, saying her stature gave the visit an imprimatur it didn’t deserve.
“It’s one thing for other members to go,†Boehner said, “but you have to ask yourself, ‘Why is Pelosi going?’ She’s going for one reason and that is to embarrass the president. She is the speaker of the House. She’s giving (the Syrian) government more credit than they deserve. They sponsor terrorism. They have not been at all helpful. I wish she wasn’t there.â€
There you got it - the old Republican double standard. Boehner showed his true colors. He believes that Republicans should have the only say in our government and Democrats shouldn't. John Boehner has once again proven his hatred for democracy.
Boehner Needs A Tissue

Aww look at this picture from the Huffington Post::
Boehner could not stand to hear the stories of a colleagues time as a POW. The AP has this to say:
Republicans, now the minority party on the Hill for the time in 12 years, issued impassioned warnings of the consequences of undermining the president's policies in Iraq. "We will embolden terrorists in every corner in the world. We will give Iran free access to the Middle East," said Republican leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. "And who doesn't believe the terrorists will just follow our troops home?"
Boehner teared up before reporters as he listened to Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Texas, describe being a prisoner of war in Vietnam and learning of U.S. protests back home.
I'm not trying to be a hard ass, but get over it. This old meme that "the terrorists will follow us here" is total bull! We have a greater chance of being attacked at home because Bush has let the fight against the actual terrorists go to hell. Why doesn't Boehner tear up over that fact? What sacrifice has Boehner given to this war?
CNN shows the "war room" the Republicans had set up for the debate in hopes of pushing their "talking points" through. The problem with that is that their talking points haven't changed, while the situation in Iraq has changed - for the worse. Perhaps instead of Boehner leading a rubber stamp Congress last year, they could have shown the President that he is accountable to them and the people.
