I like Jim Cramer a lot, and I can't help but feel sorry for him as he tells Meredith Vieira about his relationship with Spitzer and his family.
Eliot Spitzer
Another Thought From The Spitzer Mess
During the coverage of this mess, we have heard the outrageous prices people paid for these hookers. Some were $55,000 a weekend. Think of that. What other industry can make profits like that? America's self righteousness is costing us a fortune. If prostitution was legal, think of how much revenue that would generate the government. And this is from only one city! Imagine if this was allowed throughout the country. We could maybe get real universal health care.
Interesting...
Joe Scarborough and Katrina vanden Heuvel were talking about the Eliot Spitzer mess this morning. Katrina asked why our government, which is struggling to even fund "fighting terrorism", has the money and resources to prostitutes. Scarborough actually agreed with her on that, and they both feel that perhaps there was more to this than people are letting on to. Was Spitzer actually targeted because of some of the high profile names he has brought down in the past?
Something else that has been making me scratch my head. We hear some other right wing tools, like Tucker Carlson, going on about how much they hate Spitzer because of his going after corruption. These are the same tools that shoot a load every time they see Rudy Giuliani, who did the same thing. As matter of fact, Rudy and Eliot are more alike than one might think. They both have been high profile prosecutors, turned political executives. The only difference is Spitzer got caught. Rudy has been able to slip through every crack known to man. I wonder if Rudy was indicted for some of his questionable past, if he would end up getting the same scrutiny? I doubt it.
What A Disappointment!
Kurtz points out the sad part of the whole Spitzer (or swallows) sting bust:
If ABC's account is accurate, the whole case is sort of anti-climactic. The feds start out thinking they have the New York governor on the hook for bribery -- and instead discover that he's just skulking around with high-priced call girls.
They thought they were going to get him on some big, Randy Cunningham style, bribery scandal. Instead he was just using a hooker!
True I guess using hookers it much worse then things like soliciting underage children for sex on the internet. Maybe we should ask Mark Foley? Of course there are many other people that can be asker (David Vitter, Larry Craig, Rick Renzi, etc., etc., etc.).

Damn That Was Fast!
Hillary Clinton's campaign already has removed Spitzer's endorsement from their website.
